On Tuesday, January 13th, 2026, Stars4Media Day XII: “Democracy infrastructures, Eastern correspondents & European platforms” gathered over 150 participants, including media professionals, policymakers, and innovators, at the Résidence Palace in Brussels.
Against a rapidly shifting geopolitical and digital context, the day made one point unmistakably clear: Europe can no longer afford to rely on foreign digital infrastructures for its democratic debate.

Maison du MédiaLab: strengthening human infrastructure for democracy. Journalism remains essential democratic infrastructure. The Maison du MédiaLab shows how targeted support can reinforce Europe’s information space by expanding the presence of independent journalists from Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and Armenia in Brussels. Investing in this human infrastructure is vital to counter disinformation and sustain a free, pluralistic media ecosystem.
Trusted European Platforms (TEPs): towards feasibility and expert coordination. Beyond regulating Big Tech, Europe now needs to assess how to build and scale credible European alternatives that are competitive, open, and aligned with democratic values. A dedicated feasibility study and an expert group should be launched to define the technical, business, and governance models required to make TEPs a reality.
